QUESTION 08

Will AI Replace My Marketing Team, or My Job?

By Peter Anthony#FutureofWork#MarketingTeams#Leadership
A founder leading through a corridor of intelligent machines

No, AI will not replace your job by itself. The people who already know how to direct AI at a higher level than you will replace it, and they will do it by out-marketing you faster than has ever been possible in the history of this industry.

Be real for a minute. While you are sitting here wondering, somebody else is already planning, already acting, already doing. AI has already interrupted the way marketing gets done. The fact that you are asking this question at all means you are already at risk of being left behind completely.

The good news is there are still a few more seats on the bus. It is not too late. It will be, soon. That is not a scare tactic. It is simply a fact about how fast this moves.

Here is the part almost nobody says out loud: we have not lost as many jobs yet as the technology already allows, mostly because people feel bad for other people, and there is no real plan in place yet for what happens to the roles that get permanently replaced. That grace period will not last forever.

For a while the story was that the trades were safe ground, that a plumber or an electrician could never be replaced by AI. That story is already out of date. Robotics built on the same underlying intelligence is advancing into physical, hands-on work faster than most people are watching. Humanoid robots are already being built and tested for manual labor, and the companies funding them are not doing it quietly, they are doing it because the economics work. It will not stop at cleaning and simple labor. The same class of robotics is already being developed to help build vehicles, and even to prepare infrastructure in environments humans have not reached yet. Attorneys, marketers, plumbers, checkout counters, nowhere is automatically safe just because it feels hands-on today.

AI does not replace judgment. It replaces the tasks of everyone who never learned how to direct it.

The good news, and there is real good news here, is that you get to decide which side of that line you are on. Become the person at the top of the funnel instead of the bottom of it. Make the investment now that takes your business four levels further than you thought was possible this year. Get on the bus, adjust the destination, and get equipped with the tools that let you win from here instead of catching up later.
