AI Writes the Average Because You Gave It Nothing Else
An AI model writes by predicting the most likely next words, based on an enormous amount of text written by other people. When you hand it a thin prompt, like "write a Facebook post about our spring special," the most likely answer is the middle of everything. The middle is safe. The middle is polished. The middle is invisible.
That's why AI copy keeps reaching for the same words. Unlock. Elevate. Seamless. Game-changer. "In today's fast-paced world." Those aren't mistakes. They're the average, served back to you exactly as ordered.
The tool isn't the problem. The input is.
Your Customers Can Hear It, Even When They Can't Name It
Most people won't say "this was written by AI." They'll just keep scrolling. What they feel is that nobody's actually talking to them. There's no person behind the words, no opinion, no story, nothing that could only have come from you.
That's the real cost. It isn't that AI copy is bad. It's that it's forgettable, and a forgettable message costs you the same to post as one that sells.
The Fix Is a Source of Truth, Not a Better Prompt
Everyone is selling prompt templates right now. A clever prompt still can't give AI what it doesn't have, which is you. Before AI writes a single word for your business, it needs three things.
1. Your Avatar. Who, exactly, are you talking to? Not "small business owners, 35 to 55." One person, with a name, a problem that keeps them up at night, and the words they'd use to describe it. Write to a crowd and you reach nobody. Write to one person and the right crowd leans in.
2. Your Brand Voice. How do you actually talk? This doesn't come from a list of adjectives like "professional but approachable." It comes from your real words: your best sales call, the email a client forwarded to a friend, the way you explain what you do at a barbecue.
3. Your Brand Guide. What do you stand for, what do you refuse to say, and what does a finished piece look like? This is the source of truth AI checks its work against, every time.
Put those in front of AI and it stops writing the average. It starts writing you, at speed.
Don't Delegate the First Rep
There's one more reason AI copy sounds hollow: the owner never read it like a customer would. The first time you build your Avatar and your Brand Voice, do it yourself, start to finish. You can't direct what you've never done, and you can't spot a generic sentence until you know what yours sounds like.
That's exactly what the free working session covers. We take a real before-and-after from a real client, show you why the first version sounded like AI, and show you what changed it.
If you want your marketing to sound like you again, start with the free working session: sixty minutes, live, no charge.
